Follow the life of a Spotted Salamander (Ambystoma maculatum) from egg to laying her own eggs. Throughout her life stages she faces a Giant Waterbug (the notorius "Eastern Toe-biter"), a hungry milksnake, a dangerous road crossing and more. A pair of human hands come to the rescue.
Surrounding the main character are the many other creatures that share the world of a Spotted Salamander, which, I hope, would include our children.
